Sleeping Arrangements:
Nap Time- 1:00pm-3:00pm
Lunch begins around 12:00pm and children will be eating until around 12:40pm where they will then be diapered after they are finished eating. After diapers are all finished, children will then go to their designated nap mats (which are provided). You can bring in a crib sheet for your child’s mat along with a blanket for their comfort. Children under the age of one will be required to sleep on their back unless there is a doctor’s note. Soft music of some kind will be playing and the lights will be out to aid rest. If children have a hard time falling asleep, I may aid them by rubbing/patting their backs. If the child is not tired, they will not be forced to sleep, only to stay on their mat quietly as the other children sleep. Around 3:00pm, if the children are awake, they will be allowed to take care of their blankets and sheets then participate in a quiet activity until the rest of the children are awake. If the children are not all awake by 3:30 pm, the lights will be turned on and music turned off in order for them to awaken. Once all children are up, I will sanitize the sleep mats with bleach water and they will be put back into the closet for the next naptime.
Open Door Policy
-This means that you can feel free to stop by at Sunshine whenever you feel the need during operation hours. You do not need to make an appointment to do this although calling once you get here is appreciated to avoid waking the children up by ringing the door bell or knocking.
This policy has been put into place for several reasons:
-Parents need to feel comfortable with seeing their children in their natural environment. Children often tend to act differently at school than they do at home. This policy is an opportunity for you to see your child interact with his/her teacher and other children.
-Sometimes you may get off work early/need to pick up your child at a different time than you are scheduled.
-I would like you to feel comfortable with what I do and leaving your children in my hands.
-Parents are a very vital part of their children’s learning and it is best that they know what is going on from day to day.
